So, we promised y'all adventures and mishaps, right? Well the past few days have been filled with both.
Day 2 of Roadtrip
Day two was pretty uneventful. We conquered the rest of Texas and, this being my first trip cross country, it really sunk in how HUGE Texas really is. The main thing that I learned during day two is to make sure you have plenty of gas because there is nothing. Once you leave the Midland area there is one gas station until you hit the El Paso area. ONE GAS STATION FOR ALMOST FOUR HOURS! Exciting part of the day was being able to see Mexico once we got to El Paso.
States conquered: (the rest of) TX
Day 3 of Roadtrip
Day three is where the trip got interesting.
(so blissful, no idea of what the day would hold)
We left El Paso with Tucson in our sights. It was supposed to be a relatively short day with the goal of making it to Tucson around lunch time. We made it to New Mexico fine, passed the continental divide, and ventured into the mountains/desert. Then we got to Arizona. The deal was, I would drive to the border and then Ben would take over to get us home.
As soon as we switched drivers the car battery decided it was over road tripping. Thankfully a kind man jumped us off, but then the battery decided that wasn't enough and to start stalling and restarting as we drove down the interstate. Similar to Day 2, most of the drive had no exits/no towns, just wide open space. So we found the next town with an AutoZone and bought a new battery.
(ARIZONA!)
All was looking bright as we pulled into Tucson! We had conquered the battery situation! We unloaded the car, talked with the neighbors for a bit, and played with Jackson in his new backyard. We then decided that it was time to go to the store as we had zero food in the entire house. So we drove off, seconds later realizing that we locked ourselves out of the house. Now, had we had the keys to the escape we would have had a garage door opener, but alas, I left those in GA. We pulled back up, called a locksmith and continued talking with the neighbors (as Jackson napped innocently inside the house). Good news, the neighbors are AMAZING and so kind. Bad news, they probably think we are a bit stupid. Also, we attempted to break into our new house. Good news, the house is secure..bad news, we couldn't break in and had to pay for the locksmith.
(first dinner in the new house together!)
We're now in the house. My job of unpacking and setting up the house has fully begun with my trusty side kick.
Until next time!
I apologize for laughing so hard at yalls misfortunes! Can't wait for today's update :)
